IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ BEFORE DOWNLOADING

DOWNLOADING AND INSTALLING NORTON CONFIDENTIAL BETA REQUIRES YOU TO UNINSTALL CERTAIN NORTON PRODUCTS FROM VERSION YEARS 2004 AND EARLIER (VERSION YEARS 2005 AND LATER DO NOT NEED TO BE UNINSTALLED), WHICH MAY LEAVE YOUR SYSTEM WITHOUT ADEQUATE REAL-TIME PROTECTION FROM INTERNET THREATS (VIRUSES, WORMS, ETC.). AS A RESULT, SYMANTEC STRONGLY ADVISES YOU AGAINST INSTALLING NORTON CONFIDENTIAL BETA ON A PRODUCTION MACHINE OR ON A PRODUCTION NETWORK. NORTON CONFIDENTIAL BETA IS FOR TEST USE ONLY.

The installation process for Norton Confidential Beta may uninstall previous versions of Norton products (see the “Known Issues Notice” below). Please ensure you have your current Norton product media to re-install from once you complete testing and/or the Beta period expires. The Norton Confidential beta version will expire and cease functioning 30 days from the time of installation. At that time, you will need to reinstall any Norton products that were uninstalled as a result of the Norton Confidential beta version installation.

KNOWN ISSUES NOTICE:

1) For Windows® Vista™ and Microsoft® Internet Explorer users:

This Norton Confidential Beta is compatible with the 32-bit versions of Vista and Internet Exploreer 6.0 and higher. It is not compatible with the 64-bit versions of Vista and Internet Explorer 6.0 and higher.

2) For existing users of Norton AntiVirus?, Norton Internet Security, Norton Personal Firewall, and Norton SystemWorks? versions 2004 and earlier:
Norton AntiVirus?, Norton Internet Security, Norton Personal Firewall, and Norton SystemWorks? versions 2004 and earlier are not currently compatible with Norton Confidential Beta. The 2005 and 2006 versions of these products are compatible with this Norton Confidential Beta release. If you have one or more of the 2004 or earlier versions of these products installed on your computer, you will be prompted to uninstall any and all of them in order to download and test the Norton Confidential Beta. As a result, before uninstalling, make sure that you have your current Norton product media to reinstall from once you complete testing and/or the Beta period expires 30 days from the time of installation. SYMANTEC DOES NOT RECOMMEND THAT YOU CONNECT TO THE INTERNET DURING ANY TIME PERIOD IN WHICH YOUR SECURITY SOFTWARE IS UNINSTALLED.

3) Existing users of Norton Password Manager:
Norton Password Manager will automatically be uninstalled if you choose to download Norton Confidential Beta. Before downloading Norton Confidential Beta, you should make sure you have the Norton Password Manager software available to reinstall at a later date when you choose to uninstall Norton Confidential Beta and/or when the Beta period expires 30 days from the time of installation.

If you choose to download Norton Confidential Beta, you should first use Norton Password Manager to back up all of your profiles to your desktop or another folder you select. Norton Confidential Beta will prompt you to import only ONE profile during the setup process – if you have more than one profile, you will have to choose the one you want first, then import the others later using the import functionality. If you choose to import multiple profiles, there may be usability problems if URLs, usernames or passwords are similar between accounts. Norton Confidential only stores usernames, passwords and URLs, not other information.

At the end of the Beta period, you can choose to uninstall Norton Confidential Beta and reinstall Norton Password Manager and import the profiles you originally backed up, or you can purchase the retail version of Norton Confidential and import your passwords from the Beta version.

If you choose to install Norton Confidential Beta over Norton Password Manager, please note that there are several instances in which this process has been observed to fail. If you encounter such a problem, please disregard the error message, and restart the system. After restart, you should be able to import the confidential information stored in Norton Password Manager using the following steps:

1. Launch Norton Confidential
2. Click “Log in to or out of InfoVault”? on and choose “Set up InfoVault”?
3. Choose “Setup Now” and type your master password and choose “Import”
4. Please disregard the “Login failed” error and continue
